Huawei to show off their 5G Foldable Smartphone at MWC 2019

Foldable devices seem to be the latest tech trend in 2019 and Huawei, the 2nd largest smartphone manufacturer in the world will not going to be left out. Huawei confirmed at MWC 2019 that it will show off the world’s first 5G smartphone with a foldable screen at the end of February.

Flexpai Royole, Motorola, Xiaomi in videos and images circulating the internet promised to release foldable devices this year.

The tech gaint made the announcement at the end of the firm’s pre-MWC 2019 briefing in Beijing, China, where company CEO Richard Yu said

“We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona in February, where we will launch the world’s first 5G smartphone with foldable screen.” Huawei is keen that the demonstration of its new compelling technology will steal some of the MWC 2019 attention for the Samsung’s S10 trio. 

According to Richard Yu, the company will be number one in the world “at the earliest this year, and next year at the latest.” He says that despite the pressures and scandal they have plagued the company, customers are still confident on Huawei smartphones.

The Huawei 5G foldable phone will pack the firm’s flagship Kirin 980 chipset which is found in the Mate 20 Pro, Honor View 20 and it will also boast the new Balong 5000 modem, which will provide the handset with its 5G capabilities.

MWC 2019 will be running from February 25 – 28 and tech company the world over will participate to show us some of their most anticipated projects for the year.
