The world’s most used messaging platform is adding a very important important security update which was submitted to the Google Play Beta Program. This newest security add on is known as the Authentication Feature and this allows you as a user to either use Finger ID (Fingerprint ) or Face ID (Facial Scan) to access the messaging app.

WhatsApp is working in order to add these new features, adding new improvements in the next updates and for this reason, if you don’t see in you next update that probably means these features are under development.

According to Wabetinfo, Face ID and Touch ID features on iOS (that aren’t available yet for development reasons), WhatsApp has finally started to work on the Authentication feature on Android, using your Fingerprint ID.

How the Fingerprint ID Authentication Feature Works

When the Fingerprint feature is enabled, the entire messaging app (whatsapp) will be completely protected, so users will need to authenticate his identity in order to open WhatsApp (from the app icon, from the notification or from external pickers). This new feature doesn’t just protect specific contacts or messages but everything concerning the Whatsapp Application.
