9 min read

Google started rolling a beta build of Android P which was made available since the 7th of March this year. The tech giant made the Developer Preview (Beta Version) available to techies and software engineers around the world to explore and understand the kinds of stuff the new OS is capable of.

Below are 5 of these Amazing features in Google’s Android P.

Here is a Summary of Android P Features

#1 Adaptive Battery

Android P’s adaptive feature makes use of the available energy according to the use by the user, preventing unnecessary applications consume battery. When you turn on the feature in system settings, Android will devote less power to less-used apps, making the app’s functionality limit (they stop issuing notifications, for example).

#3 Slice

The Slice is another amazing adaptive feature of the new Android. It allows you to access specific internal functions of an app when you search for it in the browser on your smartphone. So when you type “Uber”, for example, you can find quick access to your home address as a response, so just click on it to open the app already with its destination included.

#4 Navigation with gesturesAndroid P-Navigation-TechHabor

Gestures supported by the Android Home button:

  • One-touch: return to the home screen
  • Pressed long: start Google Assistant
  • Swipe up short: Opens the system overview screen where you can navigate between open apps
  • Slide up long: opens the application drawer
  • Return: return button back to the previous screen and will be visible only within applications, no longer on the home screen

Google promises more intelligent features working here, too. ” If you see yourself constantly changing between applications, we have good news: Smart Text Selection (which recognizes the meaning of the text you have selected and suggests relevant actions) now works in the Overview, making it easier to do the action you want,” informs the company.

#5 Digital health and less distraction

Finally, the third big block of news from Android P involves digital health. The system has a specific control panel so you know exactly how much time you spend using each application installed on your device. Given this, you can set the maximum daily usage time for each service, making it less attractive after consuming all the self-imposed “franchise” -the icons are grayed out.

Another new addition includes an extension of Android’s “Do Not Disturb” mode, which now also includes the end of visual interruptions that may appear on the screen. In addition to interrupting sound or vibration notifications, the visuals are also away from your eyes whenever you want.
